John Heywood, BA HONS

John studied art at Lancaster University before moving to Edinburgh where he has spent most of his adult life. He developed his drawing skills through the classic discipline of life drawing before he joined the Edinburgh Printmakers Workshop in the mid 1980's.

He now works almost exclusively in the medium of etching. He looks for the magical or romantic in everyday scenes and is particularly inspired by the light and variable topography in Edinburgh.

His work can be found in collections around the world and he has had a number of successful exhibitions in Scotland.

Selected Solo Exhibitions:
Alridge Gallery .................................................................................. 1993
Edinburgh Printmakers Workshop ...................................................  1995
Dunedin Gallery ................................................................................ 1998
Group Exhibition: The Compass Gallery, Glasgow ........................  1998
He has also exhibited at the Scottish Society of Artists.

His work can be seen at various galleries throughout the year including:
The Blackadder Gallery
The Bonnie Blue Gallery
Edinburgh Printmakers
The Museum of Scotland

Each of these images was inspired by Edinburgh,"the city of vistas".Living and working in this setting one cannot fail to be moved by the spectaculal views which are offered at almost every turn.
