Michael McVeigh
Michael McVeigh was born in Dundee in Scotland, where he studied Drawing and Painting at Duncan of Jordanstone Collage of Art from 1977 - 1982. He did some early paintings as a muralist, which can be seen at the Dundee Centre of Contemporary Arts, Scotland and the Bowling Club. Since then he has developed his own very individual style of figurative painting and printmaking.

He moved to Edinburgh in 1982 in order to develop his skills as an artist printmaker. His inspiration was found in the local traditional Scottish way of life. The fishing communities are a feature, as are the folk music scenes and the old Edinburgh Closes. His work sometimes approaches a
descriptive style but always retains a dream-like quality which is highly sought after.

Although he still has feeling for the medium of Etching, he has a growing reputation as a painter. His work is now available in the established
Edinburgh Galleries and is to be found in prominent collections throughout the land. In typical individualistic fashion he can still be found selling his work directly to the public in the street where he has become a "well kent" face over the years. Paintings may be available on request.
