Jill Hodge, BA (Hons)

"My interest in landscape has developed over the years and is now the
prominent subject matter in my work. Living in the Yorkshire Dales
has provided me with endless inspiration for my etchings and paintings.
In depicting nature's forceful elements, primarily the weather and
effects of light, I attempt to capture a sense of place using the diverse
etching processes.
In my recent work, I extend and develop such processes using the
new non-toxic acrylic based etching techniques which enable
experimentation and manipulation of line and texture.
Now living and working in Edinburgh, I find the hills of East Lothian
equally as captivating and inspirational, providing a fundamental
influence on my current work. I plan to continue researching and
developing my prints at the Edinburgh Printmaking Studio, expanding
the boundaries of traditional etchings."
