Cat Outram, BA (Hons)

"I did a painting course at college but took much more readily to the techniques of etching and
ended up doing most of my degree in that medium.

I like most to create images where there is a strong contrast between
the composition which is made up of bold, simple shapes and areas
with lots of fine, graphic detail. Dried flowers are a long time favourite
subject and so are landscapes. I love the landscapes of DY Cameron,
the drawings of Van Gogh and Rembrandt and the watercolours of
William Gillies.

As a child I grew up near the Queens Park (in Edinburgh) so my
earliest memories from the city are from that vantage point. There is
such a feeling of space from the hills, one is not hemmed in by the city."
